The Bailey Family Believes Everything They’ve Learned Fans Out to Help Others
The Baileys Are Believers
The Bailey family located themselves in Rancho Santa Fe Covenant three years ago. They made the move to be better spaced between youngest son Daniel’s school Canyon Crest Academy and the parents’ workplace in Escondido. What is that workplace, you may ask? Tim and Celeste Bailey are the CEO and CSO (chief scientific officer) of AMCR Institute, involved in clinical trials phases I through IV for drug and device studies in diabetes and other endocrine disorders. Celeste is also an adjunct faculty in the forensic sciences department at National University, and owns a publishing company of science books for children called Science2Discover. Tim is an endocrinologist and diabetes specialist with 25 years of experience in the field.
Tim holds an M.D. from The Mount Sinai Medical School in New York, and Celeste has a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with emphasis in molecular immunology. Both utilize their education and work experience to give to the community. Tim volunteers his time and expertise at two federally-qualified health centers in North County, and Celeste is a co-founder of Science and Faith Alliance, whose aim is to improve science education in Christian schools so students would consider a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). “We offer resources to teachers and students,” Celeste explained, “and a yearly science teachers’ professional development day with workshops, presentations, and teacher networking.” The organization will host their next development day at Horizon Prep on Nov. 13.
The Bailey children are involved in a wide variety of interests as well. Alex graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University last year with a degree in music. “He plays the piano and composes beautiful pieces,” Celeste shared. He’s also getting his real estate license to work in commercial real estate, and he volunteers his talent and time to the RSF Library by helping with their website and in newsletters for the Greyhound Adoption Center. Daniel is a senior at CCA, where he is involved in the after-school Envision program for instrumental music, and is proficient in piano, saxophone, and clarinet. Celeste added, “He also sings with the Bach Street Boys chorus at Village Church in RSF.”
The Bailey family not only explores their varied interests locally but abroad as well. Their most memorable vacation was when they went to Romania and Lebanon in 2012 to meet their relatives and visit the famous Bran Castle commonly known as Dracula’s Castle. Whether pursuing their passions or traveling abroad, the Baileys make sure to make time for those in need, connecting with people through science, music, and volunteer work.
