The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club recently sponsored the San Diego Botanic Garden’s Insect Festival, giving guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with all sorts of creepy-crawlies. The one-of-a-kind festival, which featured thousands of different insects, attracted bug-enthusiasts of all ages. Local bug experts were available throughout the event to answer questions, and more than 20 educational booths were provided to instruct and entertain children and adults alike.

In addition to live insects such as Madagascar hissing cockroaches, the festival included live lizards and snakes. Children were also treated to interactive arts and crafts and bug collections. Guests who were especially interested in getting the full experience had the chance to taste cooked mealworm larvae in teriyaki and barbeque flavors. RSF Garden Club Executive Director Erin Browne shared, “We were excited for the opportunity to support an event that encompasses our mission of promoting charitable horticulture and conservation in Rancho Santa Fe and surrounding communities.” For more information visit www.rsfgardenclub.org.
