Industry Insiders

The San Diego Film Foundation (SDFF) hosted an intimate discussion with Hollywood filmmakers Stephen and Kathleen Gyllenhaal at a private home in Rancho Santa Fe as part of its Industry Insiders Series, which focuses on creating dialogue between film industry professionals and the patrons that make the foundation’s work possible. The Gyllenhaals met with SDFF patrons to share insight into their experiences with film, TV, and art. They also discussed their upcoming documentary In Utero II, as well as a TV show and feature film currently in development. “Each October, the Festival and their patrons play such an important role in showcasing not only the work of well-known and respected filmmakers, but also phenomenal new perspectives exploring important social topics in our communities,” the Gyllenhaals said. “We are honored to engage our work in that vital conversation.” Stephen and Kathleen Gyllenhaal have worked in nearly all areas of TV and film. Credits include Losing Isaiah, A Dangerous Woman, Homegrown, Waterland, The Shield, Numb3rs, Billions, and Beauty Mark, among many others.

SDFF is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to making a difference through film. Based on the belief that film can be transformative, SDFF uses it to explore issues of global impact, to create dialogue, to encourage self-reflection, and ultimately to develop empathy. The cornerstone event of SDFF is the annual San Diego International Film Festival. In addition to the Industry Insider Series, SDFF also operates FOCUS, a year-round educational program in San Diego Schools, the Film Insiders Series, and the annual Oscar Awards Viewing Party Gala.
