Cathedral Catholic High School (CCHS) held an official ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing of its brand new solar installation project in March. Officials conducting the ceremony were Fr. Martin with the blessing, Mr. Mark Johnson of Baker Electric Solar, Mr. Mark Fisher from the Diocese of San Diego, and Mr. Stevan Laaperi. The project will help CCHS achieve savings of $80,000 to $100,000 per year on its electrical energy costs, with the ability to purchase the system in six years.

The completion of the solar project is part of CCHS’ continual environmental efforts including the installation of 80,000 square feet of artificial turf, using energy-efficient LED lighting, and providing electric car charging stations to faculty, staff, and students during the school day and to the community at large in the evenings.
