May is National Foster Care month, and nonprofit Promises2Kids is joining forces with local restaurants to raise funds. Throughout the month of May, Foodies 4 Foster Kids restaurant partners are donating proceeds from select menu items to Promises2Kids. North County’s Cupcakes a la Yola is proud to participate for the second year in a row.

Promises2Kids was founded in 1981 and supports current and former San Diego foster youth through four core programs. The Polinsky Children’s Center is a short-term emergency shelter for children removed from their homes for abuse or neglect. Camp Connect is a four-day summer camp that reconnects siblings who were placed in separate foster homes. Guardian Scholars provides college prep support, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for foster youth preparing for higher education. Finally, Foster Funds is set up to provide for things not covered by other funding programs, like birthday gifts, sports equipment, or musical instruments.
