Protecting the Community
The Rancho Santa Fe Fire District Foundation held a successful inaugural fundraising event at the Cielo Village Square in May benefiting the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District. Guests were treated to food by Sage Bleu Catering, live music by Joseph Angelastro, and mingling with friends and community members. Keynote speakers included Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District Chief Fred Cox, Elfin Forest Fire Station #6 Chief Fred Twohy Jr., RSF Fire District Foundation President Jim Depolo, and Board Member Nona Barker, who spoke on behalf of The Cory Iverson Fire Academy Scholarship Fund.
The RSF Fire Protection District has six fire stations and serves over 50 square miles that covers communities within and surrounding Rancho Santa Fe, 4S Ranch, Fairbanks Ranch, Cielo, The Crosby, Elfin Forest, and Harmony Grove.
The RSF Fire District Foundation exists to support the RSF Fire Protection District with equipment, training, recognition, scholarships, and other resources. The Foundation has already granted funds for a drone to better assess fire situations and get personnel in and out of areas with a greater degree of safety, a detox sauna for firefighters after they have been exposed to toxic smoke inhalation, and a new septic system for Station #6.
